I briefly mentioned my visit to Nest in San Fransisco in my last post, but here's the truth, the whole truth anbd nothing BUT the truth.
Six years ago I walked into Nest and I knew I wanted a shop so badly. I knew I could do it. I felt confident that I had the eye. I knew I had a business mind. I knew I had the skills for retail....it IS what I have done for the larger part of my life. Younger Me was made to feel that retail was beneath me and that I was "better" than that...but I loved it and that confused me. Older Me knows I love it and thrive in it.
I have no plans for ANYTHING right now. I am still feeling nothing but relief to be where I am right now. The chaos of having no control is behind me. I have kids to raise, sports to attend, a family to be present with and that is more than enough. My side gigs with Uncovered Ruby and flea market sales are more than enough.
But walking back into Nest after my CRAZY five year stint during an economy like this and feeling inspired to try it again someday and knowing it's NOT over for me was pretty encouraging. I had a very Mary Tyler Moore moment and I knew I was going to make it after all. Not today or next week. But I will.
Little does this random store, 638 miles away from me, know their power to inspire me.
And here is an inspiring read from their store...I love anything that encourages decorating for yourself and your family. Decorating "rules" are not for me! I own a throne for my everyday seating arrangement for goodness sake!
And here is one of my favorite birthday presents. It hasn't left my bedside table!
I read it before bed, fill my head with decorating wonder and fall fast asleep!
Cheers to figuring it out slowly, but surely.
Love Nest and have visited each time I hit San Fran. Fun spot and on a great block too.

So glad you have that inspiration. Each of us need to be inspired in some way. I love those two chairs at Nest.
