Last Friday and Saturday while the rest of the world did the chatter of "3 Day Weekend", "going to the beach" and "just kicking back in this glorious sun" I knew I was in for same old weekend and certainly not a long one in the relaxation sense!

So...I made my own beach life here in the shop!

 

 

 

 

 

 

How'd I do? I created my OWN little beachy world! And the weather was just LOVELY this Memorial Day Weekend....perfect temperature, perfect everything....one of the biggest things I miss are Holidays off. I COULD hire employees for that....but I always feel SO guilty, so protective and then I think "I could have bought MORE stuff with that money!!!!" It's all about the stuff........

I am just closing my eyes and fast forwarding to July and Toronto, Vermont & Boston!

 

 I did get a few days "away" which was great. There was the Sauvie's Island and the naked people and The Gorge...perfect weather, killer taqueria and a LITTLE down time.

Week in Photos

Today is slow. Slow. Slow. I watched a rat across the street run from corner to corner and the most exciting part of the day was when a dog walking off leash came along and walked next to the rat.....but nothing came of it...so I dozed back off. Played me some Bejeweled Blitz and called it good.

Hope this isn't how my entire Memorial Day week will be...we'd been busy, busy,busy!

Deb Funches came by and made a drop yesterday of new goodies......Yummy.

A Perfect Day for Tying Up Loose Ends.....

Today is AMAZING outside...just amazing. PERFECT temperature, sunny as all get out. JOHN opened for me and my daughter and I took a nice, long walk. I got a dose of Vitamin D and some much needed  FRESH air!

Even though I had a walking buddy, I remembered tons of things that needed to be done and I figured today would be the perfect day to tie up many loose ends.

#1) Julie is a local neighbor and customer. I met her years back when I worked at the local scrapbook store. She was then chronicling the BIRTH of her daughter who just turned FOUR last week. How did that happen? Julie came in for some gifts and to support local and did a post about my store on her blog. Thanks Julie! It's so good to know that the survival of small businesses ARE on people's mind. Julie will be at the next 2nd Friday on Lower Fremont. She will be selling her handmade bags. Come on down and check her out on June 12th.

#2) Pay bills. The gas company FINALLY went to on-line payments. THANK GOD. I am too scattered to keep envelopes and stamps handy anymore. Embarrassing, but true. It's hard to keep a home and a business in order! I need assistants. And the money to pay them.

#3) Get the window vinyl done. John did that for me. My son helped! Thank you sunny weather...it made the job much easier!

Yeah. They didn't come in.

It was SLOW...people were LOVING on the weather. Great sales when they happened.....but those are the perfect days for mopping, playing Bejeweled Blitz and Tying Up Loose Ends.

 

This is a great Tiffany Blue color....you can't really tell here. But I love it. JOHN is Sir Vinyl.

I had a special delivery today from my friend. Her mom gave me this sweet girl....it's Little Miss Muffet. She is going straight to my kitchen window to make me smile.

Sunny Days & MORE Jewelry......

The sun is OUT.....I see some clouds and they look kind of nasty....but I wore my flower flips flops to encourage the suns appearance!

 

I am not going to stop loving on Deb's flowers....they just make me so happy!

 

Here they are in ring form! Oh.....it's like a bouquet of happiness!

  

 

I hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day. Mine was simple, but perfect! We "got to" go to Penzey's Spices and I loaded up on all my favorite's. In going back to fresh and healthy living, I find a few fun spices go a long way!

What a GREAT Mother's Day weekend we had here at Poppy & Ivy.

2nd Friday  on Lower Fremont was GREAT and we are currently working on our website to update for next month's vendors. WHAT a great area we live in that loves to support local artists and businesses.

Just In....Just In Time.....!!!!! Art Walks ROCK!

The street is swept...the vendors are setting up...and they are GORGEOUS! One and all! So come on down...we're only in the set up process and I am blown away....

Sun, Rain, Mother's Day Extravaganza and Other Amazing Things

Good old P-Town is experiencing an April-ish May. Sun....followed by a down pour of hail....sun...rain. Flooded basements and gutters abound in our neighborhood right now..US INCLUDED! Rain....Rain....GO AWAY!

 

But the plants are happy.

Tomorrow is our 2nd Friday on Lower Fremont. I am VERY excited about this one. We have tons of vendors, I have Deb Funches here and maybe even Jennifer the new vintage jewelry consignor from the shop. I think she MIGHT be in the coffee shop so the street will be PACKED with Mother's Day goods for one and all!

 

 

I have had some new things come in....I have been making Mother's Day cards like a crazy woman...I have been waiting for my Lucky Loo Loo order, but I am not feeling really optimistic it will come be tomorrow afternoon...but you never know!

 

 

 

And today our house got the first layer of crappy paint taken off! I am so excited...and obviously VERY easily pleased. I can hear the Beverly Hillbillies theme song play in my head every time we pull into the driveway. Yeah! This MAKES my 2009! Thank You Apogee Paint!

This dude is my hero....I almost threw up in mouth just watching him...he even turned and waved goodbye to me. I almost said "Are you NUTS??? HOLD ON!!!!!"

 

So happy day to you all...and if you're local I hope to see you on Lower Fremont tomorrow! I'll save some bubbly for you Friend!

Sparkle and Cream!

Bring on the sparkle...that's my motto. The more sparkle the better!

I received an order of my favorite line of jewelry yesterday and I WENT for it....just went for it. I usually get 2-3 necklaces and 15-20 earrings. I did 50 pairs this time! 10 necklaces!

I was anticipating Mother's Day, prom graduations & weddings....who knows!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And cream....oh my-- I have a love affair with cream. When I walk through an estate sale, I try to see everything through cream colored glasses.

 

 

A few other goodies tossed in as eye candy....just for good measure....

 

 

This is the ceiling of my window and more sparkly...don't ask questions...just enjoy the view!

On the home front I have spent the week cleaning sheets, towels, clothing for my poor son who is certain he will get "spine flu". Poor guy. He is certain it's knocking at his front door. In one hand he has Purell, the other hand a vial of AirBorn. Bless his heart.....and did we all really need something else in the world to worry about?
